Job Description
A new incumbent is required to be selected and to join the team and initially assist the team with lower complexity tasks within existing knowledge and experience that is in place. The expectations of the position are listed as follows in increasing order of complexity and overall responsibilities:-   

Everyday departmental activities
1. Arrange relocation logistics between data centres when needed
2. Maintain Aperture documentation and system documentation for all Mainframe and Servers installed on the raised floor areas.
3. Liaison with Procurement and inventory management
4. Management of items in the consumables stores plus associated replenishment
5. Perform ongoing quality review audits on the Aperture system versus the data centre
6. Assist with the  Data Centre security and act as Facilitators to Contractors
7. Loading of all Remedy Change Requests
8. Creation of new or decommissioning of old CI information in the Atrium CMDB
9. Self Audits and PDU Management in all sites
10. Keep Floor Plan documentation and database reports up to date within Aperture
11. Ensure that overall asset tracking processing requirements are adhered to and data centre assets are safeguarded
12. Manage Computer Room and Staging Room as a clean area and ensure an organised overall appearance.
13. Incident management co-ordinator with escalation where appropriate
14. Schedule general meetings and co-ordinate high level tasking documentation
15. Preventive Maintenance and Vendor Management
16. Timeous Reporting back to the team, management and stakeholders


Intermediate technical departmental activities
1. Cabinet ordering/delivery/customizing for Server Farms “all sites”.
2. Data Centre coordinators and IT Facilities liaison for all Electrical and Mechanical repairs
3. Data Centre Power Management System installation, Administration and Monitoring.


Complex level technical and service activities
1. Installations and Administration of Data Centres
2. Liaison to Storage Administration for management of the Storage Area Networks (SAN) in all sites
3. Team Member on all Server Relocation and Decommissioning Projects with key deliverables.
4. Manage all Data Centre Hardware SLA’s.
5. Vendor Liaison to Operations, Mainframe and Mid-Range support groups
6. Coordinate or physically install all Sub-Floor Escon, Ficon, RJ45, and Fibre Channel cabling.
7. Provide technical and Management assistance.
8. Physical planning for all equipment in the Data Centre raised floor.
9. Electric / cut out / vented tiles, delivery, Space-Planning, Installation and Turn-Over of environments
10. Environmental modifications to enhance Air Flow within the Data Centre CFM and Sub-Floor Plenum.
11. Service delivery Manager or key Team Members for all Mainframe and Mainframe peripheral Projects
12. Project Manager for Architectural changes in the raised floor space. 
13. Act as a contact and hands on support for lines of Business without a representative in the Data Centre.
14. Provide 7 X 24 support to Operations, Mainframe, Mid-Range and Storage Management
15. Responsible for all Hardware Upgrades and maintenance.

Overall reporting lines will ultimately be to the Manager of the Hardware planning department but it is very likely that new incumbents will be assigned to a mentor in order to assimilate knowledge and for the team to ensure skills transfer and that sufficient confidence in the new member is built up.  During such times, the incumbent may be required to feedback and report to the designated mentor on an operational basis. 

Qualifications Pre-requisite Knowledge, skills and experience
• Fluent in English, with good overall written and spoken local language skills
• Good understanding of general data centre technologies and service delivery but with specific technical knowledge or experience in either the Windows or UNIX server or IBM Mainframe operations, are a pre-requisite.
• Successful track record of being involved with service orientated business processes.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail, proactive, autonomous
• Passionate about assisting team members with the everyday task responsibilities and to allow for the focusing of efforts and improving the teams service delivery capability
• Be a strong team player, able to work successfully with cross-functional and teams dispersed across a few sites
• Flexible and proactive approach to overall role and responsibilities
